Buying shapewear online can feel like a gamble. Too small and it digs in and rolls down. Too big and it does nothing at all. The good news: getting the right size is simple once you know what actually matters.

Start with your natural waist, not your dress size

Dress sizes vary wildly between brands, but your measurements don't. Take a soft measuring tape and measure two spots: your natural waist (the narrowest point, usually just above the belly button) and your hips at their widest point. Write both down in centimeters or inches — these two numbers matter more than any label in your closet.

Match your weight range, then check the chart

• S — 40–50 kg
• M — 50–60 kg
• L — 60–70 kg
• XL — 70–80 kg

If you're near the top of a range, that's your size. If you're right on the border between two sizes, read on.

Between sizes? Here's the honest rule

Ask yourself what you want more: maximum sculpting or all-day comfort.

• Size down (or stay at your exact size) for the firmest smoothing — best for special occasions and fitted dresses.
• Size up for 8+ hour wear, desk days, and travel. You'll still get smoothing, with room to breathe.

Signs your size is right

When you put on well-fitting shaping shorts, the waistband sits flat below your bust line without folding, nothing digs into your thighs, and you can sit, bend, and climb stairs without adjusting. You should feel gently held — not squeezed.

Signs it's wrong

Rolling waistband? Too small. Fabric bunching or wrinkling? Too big. Red marks that last more than a few minutes after removing? Go up a size — compression should never hurt.
